Discover the Art of Iris Folding

Finished iris folding pieces on the studio worktable

Iris folding is a craft that's for everyone. It's a magical process where strips of colored paper are layered one over the next, spiraling inward to form a luminous center that resembles the iris of a camera lens. Thus the name iris folding.

This unique technique originated in the Netherlands in the 1980s, where crafters created mesmerizing geometric designs using strips cut from the patterned insides of envelopes. Today, it's a beloved craft among paper artists worldwide. In this class, you'll have the opportunity to create your own unique artwork.

The best part? You don't need to be artistic to make something beautiful. You'll work from a numbered template, carefully placing each folded strip to create the stunning spiral. Seasoned artists enjoy experimenting with color and design, while beginners are amazed at their creations. Everyone leaves with great results. And that's not a promise we make lightly.
